Augmented reality eyewear is another attempt by large corporations to convince you that they are improving your life. The concept of AR was originally conceived by L. Frank Baum in his 1901 novel, The Master Key. He also wrote The Wizard of Oz.

PeaceKeeper Handbag
Designed 2004
Available at jamespiatt.com
Originally created as a Surrealist art piece this handbag led me to design many other handbags and dramatically changed the course of my career. Press coverage included mainstream periodicals like the Telegraph and Readers Digest. Some other famous designers "borrowed" the idea and did their own versions but this was the first time brass knuckles were combined with a handbag.

This design was inspired by infamous babies. Accessory charms allow the wearer to represent different babies from pop culture, an airplane for the Lindbergh baby, a window for Michael Jackson’s baby Prince, cigarettes for Britney’s baby Jayden and who can forget baby Jessica who was rescued from a well.
