Pillory Dinette
2004, custom laminate, plywood
The Pillory Dinette is a wooden framework with holes for the head and hands, used to subject offenders to informal meals as punishment. The design satirizes American domestic life by highlighting the mundanity of daily mealtime routines, as well as societal expectations surrounding them. The framework is adorned with a custom-printed laminate, emphasizing its absurdity and adding to the satirical nature of the piece.
