Shroud of Turin in Silly Putty
2020, Silly Putty, ink, screen, wood
The Turin Shroud, one of the most venerated religious artifacts, is believed to bear the imprint of Jesus Christ's final moments. As a child, I was fascinated by the versatility of Silly Putty - its ability to stretch, bounce, and even reproduce images. In my painting, I sought to pay homage to this fascinating material by creating a full-sized facsimile of the shroud using oil-based ink, and applying a ten-pound weight of Silly Putty to transfer the image. The result is a unique fusion of tradition and experimentation.
